J.D. Salinger has died

As famous for his life as a recluse as he is for his novel The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger has died at his home at the age of 91.

To remember this writer who changed American literature and youth culture since the publication of Catcher in 1951, you should dig out your old copy. Or better yet, go to one of the wonderful local bookshops such as The Book Nook in Marietta or Once and Again in Roswell.

Welcome!

Sensing an opportunity to report on literary life outside the perimeter, stumblebee has been created to bring you the news on all things bookish going on in the Atlanta suburbs, from Sandy Springs to Powder Springs.

You mean things actually happen outside of Midtown/Buckhead/Decatur?! Yes.

If a bookstore in Marietta is having a sale, or a play is opening in Lawrenceville, you'll get all of the details here. But it won't be all books. Arts, music, crafts, and other lofty pursuits will be covered as well from time to time.

Got something to share with the world? Tell us all about it!
